Hailuo AI / FIELD NOTES
Hailuo to GIF
A GIF is useful when the movement matters more than sound: a quick gesture, an atmosphere reference or a short motion example for a review. Hailuo Downloader can make one from an accessible public video, using the start of the available source.
This is a fixed conversion. It uses up to the first 15 seconds at 12 frames per second and 480 pixels wide, keeping the source aspect ratio. The form does not include a trim range, quality slider or selection of a different starting point.
Download your own work or content you have permission to save.
Create a GIF from the returned video
Only one conversion runs at a time. If the service reports that it is busy, wait and retry rather than submitting several conversions together. A progress message describes preparation; it does not mean the final file is already saved to your device.
- Copy a supported individual public Hailuo video link.
- Paste the link and wait for the source preview and export choices.
- Play the preview to see whether the beginning contains the motion you want.
- Select GIF and keep the page open while the file is fetched and converted.
- After the download is requested, check your browser’s downloads and open the completed GIF.
What the fixed settings change
A GIF is a new derivative, not a copy of the MP4’s compressed video stream. Motion, texture and color can look different even when the conversion succeeds. Review the result at the size you plan to display it; the public video remains the best reference for checking what changed.
| Setting | Result |
|---|---|
| Duration | The first 15 seconds at most; shorter videos keep their available duration. |
| Width | 480 pixels, with height derived from the source aspect ratio. |
| Frame rate | 12 frames per second, which may look less smooth than the source. |
| Color | A palette-based GIF conversion, so gradients and fine color transitions can change. |
| Audio | No soundtrack in the GIF. |
| Visible marks | Any watermark visible in the selected source frames remains. |
Decide whether GIF fits the destination
Use GIF for a short, silent visual idea where the reduced frame rate and limited colors are acceptable. If your destination accepts video and you need sound, longer duration or finer detail, keeping the MP4 is often more useful. A GIF can be larger than the MP4 it was made from, so conversion is not a guarantee of a smaller attachment.
If the moment you need happens after the first 15 seconds, save the source video and prepare the desired excerpt in your own editor. This tool does not expose a start-time control. For a single reference image, the separate JPG option takes the first frame rather than creating an animation.
Check the completed file, then share it appropriately
Some file managers initially show a still thumbnail for an animated GIF. Open the file in a viewer that supports animation before deciding that it is broken. If preparation failed, try downloading the source: that helps determine whether the problem affects the conversion or the public video itself.
Temporary converted-download links expire after 10 minutes. Resolve the share link and prepare the GIF again if needed. The source and output must stay within the 200 MB limit, with source media no longer than 10 minutes. Conversion does not change who owns the work or grant permission to publish the animation elsewhere.
Questions about this guide
Can I change the GIF start time?
No. The current conversion starts at the beginning and includes at most 15 seconds. Use the source video in your own editor for a different excerpt.
Will the GIF include sound?
No. GIF is a silent animation. Keep the MP4 if the source soundtrack matters.
Why is the GIF less smooth?
The conversion uses 12 frames per second. A source with a higher frame rate can appear smoother than the resulting GIF.
Does a GIF remove the Hailuo watermark?
No. Visible watermarks remain in the source frames used for the animation.
Can I create GIFs for an entire batch at once?
The batch ZIP collects source media. Request GIF conversions from individual results, with one conversion running at a time.
